Two New Horizon Airplanes Arrive

The HobbyZone Carbon Cub S+ arrived this week! Whether you've never flown R/C before or you got your first taste of flying with a multirotor drone, the Carbon Cub S+ is the most versatile beginner's R/C airplane yet. Based on the Carbon Cub by Cub Crafters, an upgraded and thoroughly modern iteration of the classic Super Cub, and equipped with Horizon's SAFE Plus GPS-enabled technology, this scale reproduction makes it easier to learn to fly in less time than ever before. Features including AutoLand, Holding Pattern and Virtual Fence make it easy for almost anyone to fly successfully from their very first flight, while additional features including oversized tundra tires and optional flaps and floats offer the capability and versatility to fly from almost any surface, anywhere.

The Carbon Cub S+ is available as a Ready-to-Fly for $259.99, or Bind-N-Fly Basic for $219.99.

The other airplane to grace our shelves this week is the UMX Aero-Commander. The E-flite UMX Aero Commander brings the twin-engine icon to life with bountiful brushless power, aerobatic capabilities and exclusive AS3X technology for an overall flight experience that feels rock-solid enough to double your ultra-micro fun. The lightweight airframe boasts a carbon-fiber reinforced wing for added durability and performance. Careful attention to the scale outline highlights a detail list that includes panel lines and a vivid three-color trim scheme. The powerful twin-motor power system features a pair of brushless outrunners and three-blade props to deliver that exciting multi-engine sound. Independent linear servos provide the accuracy and performance to enjoy sport aerobatics such as point rolls and big loops with precision while AS3X technology delivers the ultimate in control, even if it's a bit windy.

Pick up your Aero Commander as a Bind-N-Fly Basic today for only $149.99!

New TRX-4 Tactical Announced

If you thought the TRX-4 from Traxxas couldn't get any cooler, you just lost that bet. On Thursday, Traxxas announced the new TRX-4 Tactical truck, a variation of the popular new crawling platform. This truck seems to have all the fixin's that the Defender does, but with a military-esque design.

It still features the two-speed transmission, the remote-locking differentials, and aluminum GTR crawler shocks, but adds the new lightweight body to lower the overall center of gravity of the truck for greater speeds, tighter handling, and improved technical crawling, which sounds like a win for all the guys who feel the Defender body is too heavy. Also new are the military-inspired wheels for that, well, tactical feel.

Oh, and they're going to sell for only $419.99, a drop in price of $30 compared to the Defender!

It's due to be available early November, so get your pre-order in right away!

New Mini Monster In Stock

2017-10-13 10.07.49.jpg

Horizon's hobby-shop only brand, Revolution, has released their new 1:12 scale monster truck, the Forge MT, and we have them! It's available in two colors and comes with everything you need in the box for only $99.99! The best aspect of the truck, though, is that when compared to other similarly priced trucks, the Forge MT is much larger; we also stock the Dromida 1:18 Monster Truck at the same price, but it's tiny compared to the Forge MT. This means the Forge will likely be able to tackle rougher terrain, and maybe even grass.

Stop in and check it out - it will make a great Christmas gift for any R/C beginner!

Weekly News Update: New Planes, Old Friends

ECX Returns

We've begun to carry some ECX vehicles again, after dropping them back in 2013. They have made some significant improvements since then, and the time was right to bring them back into the Roger's Hobby Center fold.

You can currently find the AMP Desert Buggy ($139.99), the Circuit stadium truck ($179.99), and the Torment short course truck ($199.99) on the shelf, and if they do well, more vehicles will be on the way.

Additionally, look for ECX hop-ups in the coming weeks as well!

E-Flite Cirrus SR22T

Also new was the E-Flite Cirrus ST22T Plug-N-Play ($199.99) and Bind-N-Fly Basic ($229.99). This slick single-engine civilian aircraft is equipped with functional navigation and internal lights, among other scale details. Powered by a relatively big Power 10 E-Flite motor, this 1.5-meter airplane will be a must-have for fans of civilian R/C aircraft.

Revolution Ascent SPx

The Revolution Ascent Single Pusher is a good-sized beginner airplane for a great price: it's running just $99.99 for a nearly 30'' wingspan. It will be at its best flying in a park or similar large, open space. Maybe a good choice for a Christmas gift? We'll see!

UMX Aero-Commander

Yesterday E-Flite announced a new UMX airplane, the twin engine Aero Commander. Powered by two brushless motors and requiring a 450-800mAh 2S LiPo battery (sold separately), this 28.15" wingspan aircraft stretches the definition of UMX, but I suspect it will be a popular airplane nonetheless. It will run $149.99 for a Bind-N-Fly Basic model when it comes out early November. Stop in or give us a call and pre-order one today - no down payment required!

Traxxas Raptor Back in Stock

We have restocked our Traxxas Ford Raptors! Two are in stock now, so if you've had your eye on one, pick it up soon! $249.99 and nothing else to buy.

Blade Inductrix FPV+ In Stock Now

New in stock yesterday was the Blade Inductrix FPV+, the next evolution of the popular Inductrix platform. The new model boasts a larger, more durable frame, powerful new motors, and a larger battery for longer flights. It still features SAFE technology for confidence in the air, and the new "Meow Mode" reverses the direction of the motors to flip the drone right-side up if it lands upside-down. The Ready-to-Fly model upgrades the old monitor to a new 4.3" monitor with a built-in DVR to record your flights for posterity.

Stop in and pick up yours today, and start flying around the house in style!

Two New Airplanes In Stock

Horizon keeps churning out airplanes, and two new ones have recently come into the store: the E-Flite PT-17 and the E-Flite UMX Timber.

The UMX Timber

The UMX Timber

Starting off with the UMX Timber, it brings the features of the larger Timber into the small scale. Like its larger brother, Short Take Off and Landing (STOL) is a specialty of this ultra-micro offering versatile performance that harnesses both friendly flying characteristics and an abundance of power. Right out of the box, the fully-assembled UMX Timber comes complete with functional flaps and oversized wheels. Combined with light wing loading and brushless motor power, getting out and back into tight spaces is possible. Installation of the included leading edge slats means you can land even slower and takeoff in shorter distances. AS3X technology with optional SAFE Select mode means you get the ultimate in control performance no matter when you choose to fly, even if it's a bit windy. Plus the brilliant LED lighting adds a special touch of realism and the ability to buzz the bush after sundown. The UMX Timber BNF-Basic runs $129.99.

The 1.1M PT-17

The 1.1M PT-17

Moving on, the PT-17 has everything you could ask for in a classic biplane. First and foremost is the period-correct 7-cylinder dummy radial engine, complete with intricate ignition and exhaust details. The Navy-inspired trim scheme is highlighted with wing rib and fuselage frame work accented with accessory and paneling detail. Shock-absorbing action of the aluminum struts add functional authenticity you'll appreciate during touchdowns and rolling over grass. While it's easy to be overwhelmed by the scale complexity, getting this beauty in the air requires less effort than you might think. Field assembly features a quick-release wing mounting system, which means no tools are required. Even battery installation is simple through the large magnetic top hatch that accommodates a wide range of 3S LiPo batteries. Unlike the modestly equipped full-scale original, a 15-size brushless outrunner motor delivers ample thrust so you can perform sport aerobatics or just cruise the horizon with power to spare. It's available in both BNF-Basic ($229.99) and Plug-N-Play ($199.99).
