Happy New Year!

It's certainly been a busy year for us all. I want to sincerely thank you all for your continued support and business throughout the year of 2010. While the numbers have not yet been crunched, it seems it was the best year we've had in a long time, and I know we have our loyal customers to thank for that.

I'm looking forward to the new year, and I hope that your experience with our store, and the hobbies you're in, get better and better as time marches forward.

If you'd like to read my reflections of the past year, head over to our blog. The link is on the left side of your screen, or you can click here.

Thank you once again for your business. It is truly appreciated.

See you next year!

Stampede 4x4 Arrives; More Trickling In

We brought it to you first from iHobby. Now you can bring it home. The new Traxxas Stampede 4x4 VXL has arrived. Our first one came in and sold yesterday, but we have another one in today, and more waiting to be shipped. Availability doesn't look promising as we get closer to Christmas, so if you want one, seize the day and pick one up soon.

Hopefully we'll have one out on display so everyone can take an up close and personal look at the newest addition to Traxxas' fleet of cars and trucks. Stop in and check it out today!

NASCAR Drivers Go for a Spin in a Traxxas Spartan

Those who don't follow NASCAR racing might not know that Traxxas had a three-race deal to sponsor Kyle Busch in the Camping World Truck Series (Kyle won all three races with Traxxas on the hood too). So Traxxas set up a race for some big names in the racing world.

Participants include Kyle and Kurt Busch, Kasey Kahne, David Ragen, Bobby Labonte, and many more. But there was a catch to this race - they had to use Traxxas' new Spartan, a large electric powered boat. Fun and laughs ensue.

Catch the video after the break, and pass it along to your favorite NASCAR enthusiast.

Product Page Overhaul

I've been working long hours and late nights for the last few weeks, all for you fine folks. We're starting to overhaul the product pages and make it simpler to browse. For instance, it has been hard to determine which of the products we list are items we stock regularly. Now, you can quickly see which products we regularly stock thanks to the icon present on the right side of the page. Most of the products also include a pop-up video for the item, as well as a review link (if we have written one about it).

These pages are simply for product information and pricing. We've determined that we will not be entering the online e-commerce world; at this point, we're too late in the game for our web presence to have any impact on the market at large. However, I would like to point out that we do accept legitimate (meaning not shopping from Hong Kong or Singapore) special orders through both our Facebook Fan Page and our e-mail addresses. This is mostly intended for individuals that are already customers; however, we will follow up on all legitimate inquiries, and look forward to providing everyone with the customer service you've come to expect from us.

At any rate, I hope the new layout of the product pages will make it easier for you to find the information you are looking for. There will be more categories up in the future. I know many people are waiting for airplanes to be put up. To you, all I can say is this: I'm working on it. The sheer number of items makes putting up the airplanes a daunting task, but I want to do it the right way instead of the quick way. So your patience is appreciated.

Batteries, chargers, fuel, R/C boats, and more will also be coming as quickly as I can get them up, with other categories to follow as time permits. Stick with us as we shape our website - it's been a ton of fun and it's only getting better!

-Brian

1/16 Summit VXL Review is Up

The review for the new 1/16 scale Traxxas Summit VXl is up! Check it out here, or click on the "Blog" tab on the navigation bar to read all about it! The bottom line is this: if you're looking for a holiday gift of the R/C truck persuasion, it's going to be worth reading this review.

Or better yet, stop in and pick one up to see for yourself how much performance Traxxas managed to fit into such a small package!

Black Friday Sale

For the first time ever, we're diving on the Black Friday frenzy! As the poster above states, there will be instant rebates on select merchandise throughout the store from brands you know and love. These will be some of the best prices you've seen on merchandise in our store - ever! And we're inviting everyone to stop in and make your hobby part of your Christmas experience this year.

With rebates on such products as the popular Electrix Circuit, some of Parkzone's Bind-N-Fly offerings, and E-Flite's helicopters, this is a Black Friday sale you don't want to miss

We'll be open regular hours on Friday and Saturday, so you don't have to wake up at ridiculous time to get here and get the best deals we've ever had! And if you don't snag your favorite rebate item from the shelf because we ran out, don't fret! The rebate deal is good on special orders too! Just pre-pay in full for the items, and you'll get the rebate price! But only on Friday and Saturday!

I'm looking forward to seeing you all there!

The Beast is in; Ruckus on the way

After months of waiting, finally it's here: the myth, the legend, the BEAST! The Ultra-Micro Beast that is. Swooping on the store's shelves yesterday at $169.99 for the Bind-N-Fly biplane. This is the first-ever micro airplane from E-Flite to sport a brushless 180 motor, and a 2-cell LiPo battery - meaning that all 2.36 ounces of this airplane is going to scream! Should be a fun time at the Ryder Center indoor flying event next month. Could even make a great Christmas gift (wink wink). We only have three more on the shelf, and they're backordered again - until mid-December. So if you want one before Santa arrives, stop in and get one today.

And speaking of great Christmas present ideas, how about an inexpensive way to get your son or daughter into the world of radio controlled trucks? If that sounds like a great idea to you, you should stop in soon and check out the new Electrix R/C Ruckus! It's completely Ready-to-Run out of the box - there's nothing else to buy! It sits up high enough for playing in the grass, and will be perfect for a beginner to the hobby. And the best part of all is the price: at only $139.99, it's a great deal that won't break the bank. They just shipped, and we should have them in very soon.

Look for a hands-on video for the Ruckus as soon as I can get it shot and uploaded - and I need to get the trucks in first, of course. But in the mean time, check out the video links below for some awesome action from both The Beast and the Ruckus! Clicking on the images will make the video pop up.

New 1/16 Summit Hands On Video

Hey there, boys and girls! We've got the new Traxxas 1/16th scale Summit VXL in at the store, and of course yours truly had to open one up and see how it handled. And my first impression is: WOW! And while I'll still do an in-depth review of the car (which I've already begun), I think this is going to be a must have for any backyard basher as we go into the winter. This thing is going to be a blast in the snow!

Check out our first hands-on video below, and be sure to subscribe to us on YouTube! Your support is appreciated!

Happy Veteran's Day

We here at Roger's Hobby Center are quite aware of the trials our military and their families go through. We have the utmost respect for our service men and women. And so I want to express, for all of our staff, a happy Veteran's Day to all of our soldiers and support staff that continue to fight the good fight, and make daily sacrifices to keep us safe.

Thank you, and God Bless you.

Airshow Video is (finally) up!

Just in case you didn't make it to either the SVRCC Warbird Invitational or the Midland R/C Airshow last September, I thought I'd throw up a couple of videos of the events. In the first, James Peters, his son Josh, and Eric Watz dazzle the crowd with their Cardens, a P-51, and a clipped-wing J-3 Cub.

In the second, Gene Thompson proves he can fly with the best of them, hovering his Twist 3D in a decent breeze, and Tracy Thompson (no relation) gyrates his helicopters in a dizzying spectacle that you have to see to believe. Enjoy!
