Mercedes-Benz G 63 6x6 Announced by Traxxas

It seems like Traxxas is a crawler-first company these days, as every new product announced in the last few months was TRX-4 related — and today is no different. The 6x6 Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG is a longer version of the TRX-4’s rigid steel frame and includes extra bracing and crossmembers to provide exceptional torsional rigidity to resist chassis twist under load. The factory-installed LED lights and detailed scale body make this a unique crawling experience, though it still comes with all the perks of a fully-loaded TRX-4: two-speed transmission, remote-locking differentials (on all three axles), and GTS aluminum-bodies shocks. Unlike a standard TRX-4, the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6x6 comes with 2.2” wheels and tires, sitting it higher off the ground for maximum ground clearance.

The Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6x6 will sell for $599.99 and will require a battery and charger (sold separately). We should have a display model in the store next week, but there are currently no details on when to expect regular inventory to start shipping. Stop in and place your pre-order today to secure your spot in the queue!

Traxxas has been focused very much on their scale crawler and trail-truck offerings, and the newest addition to the clan is the Mercedes-Benz G500 — which is on display now here in the store! The G500 offers the same great specs as the previous versions of the TRX-4 like the Ford Bronco and Chevy Blazer. It’s a 12.3” wheelbase, offers front and rear remote-lockable differentials, and comes with a two-speed transmission. Like the Chevy Blazer before it, the G500 will sell for $489.99 and requires a battery and charger, which are sold separately.

NEW DEMO: Traxxas TRX-4 Sport with Traxx

Over the weekend, Traxxas announced their newest addition to the rapidly-expanding TRX-4 product line. It’s a version of the TRX-4 Sport loaded up with lots of goodies. First, foremost, and most obviously, the wheels and tires have been swapped for the new Traxx, giving this truck a larger contact patch and grippy treads, which help it shrug off the deepest mud and float across sand. Traxx’ increases ground clearance and approach angles to let you straddle even larger obstacles and climb steeper grades without breaking a sweat.

Next, we move on to the pre-installed LED light kit, which features headlights, taillights, and a wide 28-LED rack-mounted light bar, all fully waterproof for all-weather adventure. The injection molded grill and tailgate feature integrated lenses for additional scale detail and protect the LEDs.

Finally, the TRX-4 Traxx Edition includes an entire complement of scale accessories. The tough and functional Expedition Rack comes outfitted with a replica snorkel, side mirrors, traction boards, fire extinguisher, jack, and canisters for extreme scale detail. Inner fenders and clear windows give the TRX-4 a realistic scale appearance.

Best of all, we have a DEMO! Stop in and check it out and take it for a spin. Pre-orders are welcome!

Already have a TRX-4 and thinking about the Traxx? We have those in stock as well as the Traxxas-recommended lift kit and higher-torque servo. Outfit your TRX-4 with some awesome accessories!

Traxxas Releases New "Traxx" All-Terrain Tracks for TRX-4

While these were teased at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in late January, Traxxas had been remarkably silent on these show-stoppers until yesterday, when Traxxas announced not only the part number and price, but that they were in fact shipping now! Here’s what Traxxas had to say in the press release:

New all-terrain Traxx™ provides the most significant traction upgrade you can make to the TRX-4. The TRX-4 already has a go-anywhere attitude and the gear to match, but installing a set of Traxx yields a machine that feels practically unstoppable on virtually any terrain. The enormous contact patch and grippy treads shrug off the deepest mud and float across deep sand. Traxx raises the portal axles even higher (over 16mm!) for increased ground clearance that lets you straddle huge obstacles on the trail.

Each Traxx drive unit is engineered for rugged, yet smooth performance. An adjustable tension wheel keeps the treads tight while suspended road wheels allow the tread to conform to surface irregularities for maximum traction. Oil-filled dampers on each drive unit control rotational movements to help keep the tread glued to the surface. The rear Traxx drive units are longer to allow climbing steeper grades with authority.

Unlike tires with foam inserts, Traxx won't absorb water no matter how wet they get. Hardened steel stub axles, rubber-sealed ball bearings for the main drive wheels, and self-lubricating metal bushings everywhere else provide carefree all-weather fun. Best of all, they come pre-assembled and mount to any TRX-4 in just minutes.

The Traxx are sold in a set of four and will sell for $199.99. Traxxas recommends TRX-4 owners upgrade to the 2255 steering servo and high-output BEC (2262) to get the most out of the Traxx, as well as installing the Long Arm Lift Kit to gain ground clearance and minimize body trimming. Additionally, Traxxas recommends using only low gear on TRX-4s equipped with the two-speed transmission and keeping the front and rear differentials locked in you have the remotely-lockable diffs.

Look for these to hit the shelf next week. If you want to guarantee your set, stop in and we’ll order some special just for you!
