Spektrum DX7 Revealed

"Pilots don’t have to give up pro-class features just because they only need seven channels. The new Spektrum™ DX7 system gives [pilots] programming for three model types, 250-model memory, voice alerts, a wireless trainer link and more. The built-in telemetry feature gives you real-time information on things like model battery voltage, signal quality, engine or motor temperature, airspeed, altitude with other options being added all the time. Using the voice alert system, you can program the DX7 to tell you when specific telemetry values reach or exceed limits you define so [pilots] don’t have to rely on luck for critical aircraft information."

The DX6 has been a great selling radio, mostly based on its awesome features and ease of use. Now Spektrum has brought that level of awesome to the new DX7.

There isn't much else that has to be said. If you need a 7-channel radio, there isn't going to be a better one around. Look for the DX7 (with an AR8000 receiver) to hit the shelf later this month for a very reasonable $349.99. Want to make sure you get the first one? Pre-order it today!

ProBoat Recoil 17 Announced

Tipping a boat over while running isn't much fun. You have to swim out to get it, or paddle a boat over there, all the while the hull might be filling with water... it's something every boat pilot dreads.

Pro Boat's new Recoil 17 makes this a non-issue. A quick pull of the throttle will right the boat if it were ever to get upside-down. And with a brushless power plant and included 3S 1300mAh LiPo battery, it's probably destined to end up wrong-size up at least occasionally. At only 16.5" long, this deep-v boat is capable of being run almost anywhere. It also features stainless steel hardware (rust won't be a problem), aluminum rudder, fins, and trim tabs (no flexible and brittle plastic here), and worry-free waterproof electronics, all in a ready-to-run packages. Just add 4 AA batteries and go!

The Pro Boat Recoil 17 will be available sometime in March for $169.99. Pre-order yours today!

E-Flite Rare Bear Announced

"What began in 1969 as a derelict wreck is currently the fastest straight-line piston-engine aircraft in the world with a record of 528.3 miles per hour. At 500 pounds lighter and 1000 horsepower stronger than a stock Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat, Race #77 is the crown jewel of the Lewis Air Legends collection. To this day, Rare Bear is a favorite to all except the competition.

The E-flite® Rare Bear radio control airplane delivers an exhilarating flight experience capable of 100+ MPH, right out of the box. Like the full-size, this model has been outfitted with a highly-tuned, oversize power system and all unnecessary weight has been trimmed. This synergy maximizes high-speed thrills without sacrificing the super-friendly handling you expect from an E-flite model."

So says the product announcement press release. It also says this airplane is capable of flying 100+ MPH! We usually get asked how fast an R/C car goes, but now we might start offering the speed of airplanes! The BNF Basic ($229.99) version comes with Horizon's AS3X technology built right in and pre-programmed, which should help fight turbulence when travelling at top speed.

The Rare Bear is sure to excite, and that sharp trim scheme should dazzle as well. Look for this purple speedster on the shelf sometime in April. Pre-orders welcome!
