Finally, we can put to rest the year that was 2016. To be sure, it was an interesting year, one filled with contradictions, ups and downs, and, to cap it off, an election that divided a nation - or at least showed us how divided we were. For us as a store, next week brings to a close a year that started off with a bang, then deflated into a whisper.Read More
With the release of the next generation of RealFlight R/C Flight Simulator, RF-X, the minimum and optimal computer requirements have been dramatically increased. Like many that want to run this new version of RealFlight, we needed to upgrade our computer and keep those costs low, which meant building our own computer.
I've upgraded the graphics cards on my own computers before, but this would mark the first time I've ever built a computer from the ground up. It was certainly a learning experience, but was far easier that I thought it would be going in.Read More

Our goal at Roger's Hobby Center is, and has always been, to give our customers the best value in the hobby world. It's an easy thing to say, yet much harder to accomplish — to even know what value means. We don't always mean the most affordable, or best equipped, or great-looking when it comes to value. Instead, the word has a somewhat nebulous meaning, and really, it's up to our customers to determine what value means to them.
In this case, however, I think we can apply that term to our new rewards program without many objections.Read More
It can be tough to decide on what radio control vehicle is right for you. There are so many manufacturers and different types of cars, trucks, and buggies that finding the best product for your application can seem nearly impossible. While we can’t narrow the field down to one vehicle for you without a one-on-one, face-to-face visit to our store, this guide can help you whittle out the ones that definitely won’t be right for you.Read More
Hobbies are, by definition, something we do for fun, and as such, there are plenty of memories we cherish that are hobby-related. Whether it was sharing your hobby with a loved one or friend, winning a hobby-related competition, or something else entirely, we all have that favorite memory of our hobby.
Our new marketing campaign pays homage to that truth. We want to explore all the memories that we've helped you create and cherish in the three plus decades we've been serving our customers. Our new tagline — "Get a Hobby, Make a Memory" — is a call to action, encouraging new customers to embrace a hobby, share it with their family and friends, and make memories of their own.Read More
With Marvel's Captain America: Civil War dominating the box office, it felt like a good time to build something I have been intending to get around to forever: the Metal Earth Iron Man model. I was particularly drawn to this model because A) I'm a big Iron Man fan, and B) I like the fact that this is a multi-colored Metal Earth model. Most of the Metal Earth line is simply silver, including the War Machine model they offer in the same "Avengers" line, but the bright red and gold really stands out.Read More
Our website began life in July of 2009. It's had many iterations since then, mostly just differences in design as I have learned more and more about web design and development. However, something more was needed, and in January, we embarked on a site-wide redesign of our website. Today, we've (mostly) finished. But if you're wondering what this means for you, please allow me to elaborate.Read More
Now that 2015 is in the rearview mirror, it’s time to start thinking about what we want to see in 2016. Whatever the case, here are some things I want to see in the next year.Read More
