Horizon Academy Trip - Day One

A few days ago, I mentioned that I was invited down to Champaign, IL for some quality time with Horizon Hobby employees and a small selection of other hobby shop owners and representatives. Today, I arrived at the hotel in which I'll be staying for the next two days. Tomorrow is the big day, with us spending all day at Horizon's airfield. We'll be seeing many products, we've been promised, including the much-anticipated Blade 350QX (but we won't get to fly it).

Tonight was a meet-and-greet, where I was able to talk with the various dealers that attended the event. I talked with a few HobbyTown USA guys (one from Louisiana, and another from North Carolina), as well as a fun guy from Hobby Haven in Des Moines, Iowa. We also got to see (and run) some Vaterra on-road cars in the parking lot of the hotel, the new 9" ProBoat Impulse boats (which are really cool), and one Impulse 31 brushless boat. That sucker is fast!

Like I said, tomorrow is going to be the big product reveal day, and we'll be seeing some products they haven't announced yet. However, to attend, we had to sign a NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement), so I can't talk about some of the things I see until they are formally announced. But I'll say everything I can about the day, and I expect to have much, much more to say tomorrow night, along with more pictures.
